Art Together is four-week-long art class that meets once a week on Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm. Art Together is designed for kids ages 5 and up and their grown-ups.
August 8th - 29th: Sculpture
Explore the many different materials and methods of sculpture as you create a series of unique works of art! Learn about sculpting with air-dry clay, wire, paper mache, and other materials. Both adult and child participants in this four-week course will create a series of sculptures that utilize various techniques and materials while exploring foundational art concepts like form, balance, and shape. Participants will draw inspiration from past and present sculptors while developing a sense of self expression through artmaking.
WEEK 1: Armature Making: Use paper, tape, wire, and an assortment of materials to make a framework of a real or imagined creature.
WEEK 2: Papier Mache: Cover your creature with layers of papier mache to create form and dimension .
WEEK 3: Clay: Use clay to replicate the textures you might find on your creature, such as feathers, fur, or horns.
WEEK 4: Painting: Paint on various colors and patterns to add the final touch to your creature creations.
